Leading Japanese electronics specialist, Hitachi, has developed a prototype information device that is completely buttonless and allows the user to interact with it using motion. The Waterscape device is a rounded, handheld "information terminal" with a colour screen. An innovative trial taking place across London is putting the capital's drinkers under the all-encompassing eye of big brother. The Whitbread brewery is experimenting with webcams in six of its most popular watering holes, from central London taverns such as The Tournament in Earls Court to The Hogwash out in Watford, where the landlord claims trade has already increased.
